The Zerodha CDSL TPIN is a six-digit password that allows Zerodha to withdraw shares from their Demat account whenever you sell them. Before arranging a delivery/CNC, you must now enter the CDSL TPIN instead of your Kite PIN and permit the stocks to be deducted from your Demat account. Due to changes in CDSL legislation, you must now use the CDSL TPIN instead of your Kite PIN and authorize them to be sold at CDSL before placing an order. When you sell shares, the Zerodha CDSL TPIN is a 6-digit password that authorizes Zerodha to withdraw the shares from your Demat account. The TPIN is a Demat account alternative to the Power of Attorney (PoA).

Customers who haven’t submitted a POA to Zerodha can use their TPIN to authorize Zerodha to remove securities from their Demat account. The CDSL TPIN, which goes into effect on June 1, 2020, is a more secure way to manage your Demat account.

From the CDSL website, you may generate a Zerodha CDSL TPIN. The processes to produce a Zerodha CDSL TPIN are as follows:

  • Visit the CDSL website at www.cdslindia.com for further information.
  • On the right side, click the ‘Generate- eDIS TPIN’ link.
  • In BO ID, enter your 16-digit Demat Account Number.
  • Click the ‘Next’ button after entering your PAN number.
  • Enter the OTP that was sent to you by email or cellphone.
  • TPIN will be sent to you as ‘Your Generated TPIN code is 123456’ through SMS and email.

What is the BO ID in CDSL?

The 16-digit Demat account number of the client who has a Demat account with the CDSL depository is the BO id in CDSL. Your Demat account statement or the profile area of the broker’s trading website or mobile app will have the number.

Is TPIN mandatory for Zerodha?

Before placing a delivery/CNC (including GTT) sell order on Kite, you must now use the CDSL TPIN instead of your Kite PIN and permit the stocks to be deducted from your Demat account. The CDSL TPIN would have been sent to your CDSL-registered cellphone number and email address.
